About Gainmaps
Gainmaps is an open-source tool and project designed to create HDR gain map images from standard SDR images and text. It encodes gain maps directly within the browser using a local service worker without server uploads or registration, while also providing a CLI tool for batch processing targeted at ISO 21496-1 standards. The software supports input formats including PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, HEIC, and SVG to produce Ultra HDR JPEG files that render brighter highlights on modern HDR displays.
