What it does
About Supercut
Supercut is an on-device AI video editor engineered for local video production and screen recording. Built using WebAssembly, it decodes, edits, and exports video content directly within Chromium browsers and desktop applications without sending source pixels to external servers. The platform features Studio, a multitrack timeline editor for managing layered video, audio, text, and caption tracks with split, trim, and inspector controls. It also includes an integrated screen recorder that captures screen, voice, and camera footage into editable layers with automated zooms and backdrops. For transcription, Supercut runs OpenAI's Whisper model locally to produce word-level timed captions across 19 languages. Additionally, the desktop version operates a local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing external tools like Claude Code or Cursor to drive video editing workflows.
