About Backspace
Backspace is an open-source, local-first, and privacy-focused tool designed to help developers recover from unintended AI code edits. Operating directly alongside Git, it tracks uncommitted file modifications between commits in real-time using Brotli-compressed diffs. Snapshots remain on the user's machine and are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Through its single-command rollback functionality and native Model Context Protocol support, developers and AI tools can inspect snapshots and restore codebases instantly.
