About MetaScrub
MetaScrub is a browser-based utility built to inspect and remove hidden metadata from photos and digital documents. Created by Ziya Abdullayev in Baku, Azerbaijan, the software runs locally inside the web browser using JavaScript so that user files are never uploaded to remote servers. It supports reading and stripping EXIF, XMP, and IPTC metadata from JPEG, PNG, and WebP images without re-encoding or quality degradation. Additionally, MetaScrub can clear PDF document dictionaries and catalog XMP packets, as well as decode iPhone HEIC and HEIF photos for export as JPG or PNG files. Users can also operate the tool offline once the web page has loaded.
